Dr. Daniel Sheehan

Dr. Sheehan is triple board certified in Dermatology, Dermatopathology, and Micrographic Dermatologic Surgery. He is also the former Dermatopathologist and Director of Mohs Micrographic Surgery at The Medical College of Georgia where he helped train dozens of dermatologists. Dr. Sheehan is an award-winning physician selected by his fellow physicians as one of the "Best Doctors in America," an award given to the top 5% of physicians in the United States. Daniel J. Sheehan MD, FAAD is one the the most trusted dermatologists in Augusta, GA. Raised in Columbia County, he went to Duke University, where he majored in chemistry with a concentration in biochemistry and was given the Raymond Lublin MD award for the most outstanding pre-medical student in his class as well as the Merck Index award for most outstanding Chemistry major going to medical school. After receiving his undergraduate degree, he went to medical school at Washington University in St. Louis and was part of what that school proclaimed the "most highly selected" medical school class of all medical schools in the country (the highest GPA and MCAT scores in the country). He completed an internship in internal medicine at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. He completed his dermatology residency at the Medical College of Georgia, where he was the chief resident in his final year. After staying on as an assistant professor in dermatology for a year at MCG, he completed a fellowship in dermatopathology at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Dr. Daniel J. Sheehan, MD, FAAD is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the International Society for Dermatopathology, and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. He is also a fellow of the American Society for Mohs Surgery.
